With some construction activity still underway on the Tarraleah scheme and increased traffic, the Butlers Gorge Road closure will be extended to ensure public safety.
Butlers Gorge Road (from the Lyell Highway turnoff) will now remain closed 24/7 to the end of April. Mossy Marsh Dam, Clark Dam, the lookout, boat ramp and campground won’t be accessible during this period.

The Department of State Growth will soon start work on the Lyell Highway, south of Butlers Gorge Road. From Monday, 10 November 2025, works will take place between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday to Friday, and 7:00am to 4:00pm Saturdays as required. Motorists should allow up to 15 minutes extra travel time during this work.
