Waddamana Heritage Site and Highlands Power Trail

Go back in time to experience some of Tasmania’s most important industrial heritage and learn about the history of hydropower. The Waddamana Power Station Heritage Site is a unique day trip from Hobart or Launceston – and you can enjoy travelling the Highlands Power Trail on the way.

Admission is free

Oct–April 10 am to 4 pm daily (closed Good Friday; open 12.30 pm to 4 pm Anzac Day)

May–September 10 am to 4 pm Weds to Sun only (closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day)

Facilities

There are no catering facilities at Waddamana, so bring supplies and relax at the picnic and barbecue area.

Accessibility

As an old industrial site, you may encounter uneven surfaces and varying floor levels, protruding objects and steep staircases. Please take care as you explore.
