Water flows to Brumbys Creek
Poatina penstock that delivers water to Poatina Power Station needs internal recoating to ensure it can continue to operate safely and efficiently.
Work will take 9 months and to reduce impacts on our waterways and water users as much as possible, we’re scheduling this work over two years:
- 13 July 2026 to 30 September 2026 (potentially extending to 9 October)
- April to Sep 2027
During these times, the penstock must be kept dry which means the station will be shut down and there will be no outflows from the tail race and into Brumbys Creek.
We expect that natural winter inflows will keep Brumbys Creek flowing, however, water flows and levels will be lower than normal.
