Gordon Dam

Gordon–Pedder

For more than a century, our power stations have electrified Tasmania. We’re working to generate clean, reliable electricity today and for generations to come.

Gordon Power Station

Gordon is the largest power station in Tasmania. It is 183 m underground and has 432 MW of generating capacity supplied by an 80 m vertical channel.

The dam on the Gordon River is a concrete arch that’s 140 m high. Water is fed through a 137 m vertical shaft from Lake Gordon and sent downstream into the Gordon River through a 1.6 km tunnel.
