Building new capacity

The next chapter in Tasmania’s proud hydropower story
Like the early hydropower pioneers, we’re thinking big, planning carefully, and investing wisely for the future.

We’re focusing on two big projects to add more energy generation, flexibility and storage: redeveloping the historic Tarraleah power scheme and a new pumped hydro project at Cethana.

The Tarraleah and Cethana projects will complement our existing hydropower, playing an important role in delivering reliable electricity when it’s needed most. Flexible hydropower, low-cost wind and solar, and more interconnection and transmission will create a modern energy system – meeting growing demand and keeping prices as low as possible.

It’s the next chapter in Tasmania’s proud hydropower story.
