Guided by our scientists and research partners, we work to minimise our impacts on the environment, and to keep the water healthy and habitable. We want to keep Tasmania’s natural beauty, biodiversity and resources safe for us all to enjoy, now and long into the future.

Heritage is the story of people and place. Tasmanian Aboriginal people have maintained enduring cultural connections to landscapes and waterways for tens of thousands of years. More recently, over the past century, hydropower has helped shape Tasmania’s industries and society.

Today we care for and manage both Aboriginal and historic cultural heritage – protecting the places, objects and stories that define Tasmania’s identity and communities. While we manage the things of the past, we also understand that what we create today will become the heritage of the future.
