Another 75 megawatts of generation capacity is about to be added to the Tasmanian electricity system, with the installation of three large generation units at the site of the decommissioned Bell Bay Power Station.

As requested by the Government, the cost to date of running diesel generators is $4.9 million. This is consistent with the original estimate of $11 million per 100 MW a month. Hydro Tasmania has been working positively with the Government, TasNetworks and suppliers to implement the Energy Supply Plan, including the rollout of temporary diesel generation.

Hydro Tasmania has advised the Environment Protection Authority of a spill of diesel fuel at Meadowbank Power Station.
