Hydro Tasmania offers the following programs for high school and college students to learn more about what it is like to work in the renewable energy industry.
Tarraleah No.1 Pond - access restrictions from 16 Feb 2026
Lake Gairdner - lake level change
Arthurs Flume - road closure for maintenance work
Poatina lookout - closed until Dec 2027
Lake Pieman - access to campground and boat ramp closed when lake level is high

Work exposure events are offered to students in Year 10-12 in Hobart, Launceston and Burnie in 2026. These 1-day or 2-day events will give you a taste of career opportunities and what it is like to work at Hydro Tasmania.
Girls in Power is a career exposure event for girls in Years 9 and 10 that will demystify careers in the power industry, develop confidence in skills and abilities, and inspire interest in STEM fields that have traditionally been for the blokes. In 2026 Girls in Power events will be run in Hobart and Launceston
