Project Update – Nov & Dec 2025
Despite the wet-weather challenges, work continues in earnest with rock and gravel layers added to three 50 m sections, with a fourth section's excavation stage nearing completion. Initially the layers (the buttress) will be constructed to half height along its full length, before raising it to the dam crest level.
In other news, we welcomed a number of passionate Tasmanians to site to survey the protected orchids as part of the citizen science BioBlitz program – it was great to show how we're looking after the unique values of the TWWHA. You can find out more about the natural values in and around Edgar Dam here https://www.naturalvaluesatlas.tas.gov.au/(External link).
We're also happy to share that one of our Edgar Youth Program participants recently secured an apprenticeship in our 2025 recruitment round. It's great to be able to show young Tasmanians the amazing career opportunities Hydro Tasmania can offer.
With the sun finally showing its face and summer holidays here (or nearly!), we’ve noticed more visitors. A friendly reminder to add an extra ½ hour on your next trip to allow for the reduced speed limits, additional truck traffic and possible short delays when travelling through the project site.
Wishing everyone a merry and safe holiday period.
