Frequently asked questions
First, you complete your application (including your cover letter, CV and academic transcript). Our recruitment team will review it.
If you reach the next stage, you’ll receive an email invitation to complete online testing. This involves questions about your skills and behaviours. Questions will be tailored to the stream you’ve applied for. We’ll give you all the information about this testing in the email invitation.
If you are chosen to progress beyond the online testing, our team will contact you to schedule an online assessment over a 2-week window. If you need extra support to complete the assessment, you can request reasonable adjustments to help reduce or remove barriers.
The final stage will be a one-to-one interview, with hiring managers in relevant fields to your studies. These will be either in-person or online.
The program starts on the first Monday of February each year. You will start with an induction in Hobart, Tasmania.

No. We are unable to provide assistance for travel and accommodation costs for relocations.
Address your cover letter to ‘The hiring manager’.
The assessment centre is where you’ll learn more about our business, meet some of our leaders and current graduates, and complete group activities online.
The interview will be with experienced people working in your discipline. It will include a technical aspect as well as behavioural and competency questions. We recommend using the STAR (situation, task, action, result) method to answer interview questions.
We will conduct some background checks, including references, working rights and a police check. Medical assessments are conducted for some engineering roles and any role with significant field work, such as the environment stream. We cover all costs associated with these checks. You’ll need to complete all the checks as soon as possible so that we can make our final decisions.
You’ll get a development budget to spend each financial year. This budget will cover any training requirements for your rotations. Other core training activities are also scheduled each year to help you build your self-awareness and interpersonal skills.
Rotations depend on your background and the projects taking place across the business. Rotations will be offered in consultation with you and leaders in the business. If possible, you'll be given the opportunity to rotate through Hydro Tasmania (including our regional sites), Momentum Energy (our energy retailer) and Entura (our consulting arm).
