The decision will enable Basslink owner APA to operate Basslink as a regulated connector from 1 July 2026. 

Hydro Tasmania Executive General Manager Commercial Vedran Kovac said the decision would provide increased stability for Tasmania. 

“Basslink is a critical connector for the State, allowing us to import and export power between Tasmania and Victoria when it benefits us most.” 

“The AER’s final decision provides Tasmanians with increased certainty and security.” 

“This is an important step forward for Tasmania’s energy system.”
