More information - fees and requirements

Filming may incur a fee of $400 + GST to cover our administrative costs. If you require access to assets such as a power station, or other assistance from Hydro Tasmania employees, additional fees may apply. An invoice will be issued following the co-signing of a filming agreement. All fees must be paid within 30 days of filming.

We may waive the fee (or part of it) for educational, tourism or other filming activities that are likely to increase awareness and understanding of our activities.

A bond (or guarantee) may be required in case we need to repair any damage or clean up after the event. We will determine the amount based on the activities proposed and the number of people and equipment involved.

Any filming activities must comply with the provisions of the filming agreement. Extra conditions of approval in response to local management issues may be attached to the agreement at our discretion.

  • Flight activities must conform with all statutory regulations. Where the land has mixed use with another party (e.g. DPIPWE), you will need to consult the co-occupier.
  • All helicopter landings require our approval.
  • Vehicles may only be used on formed roads and in compliance with speed limits.
  • Firearms, pets, domestic animals, damage to vegetation and disruptions to operational activities are prohibited and fires are only permitted in authorised fireplaces or stoves.
  • Typically the erection of temporary structures will not be permitted. A pre-condition for erecting any temporary structure is that it is removed promptly upon completion of filming and the site is restored.

We will need you to give us a preview of your film or photo (in rough-cut form) so we can be sure the area is portrayed consistent with the conditions of approval. We’ll get back to you within 2 to 5 working days.

Images and footage may not be on-sold or licensed to a third party for another purpose without our prior written consent.

We may require you to place the following in the credits:
