  • Notice to users of Lake Pieman / Reece Dam

    Hydro Tasmania has an agreement with Tasmanian company SFM Environmental Solutions to harvest submerged special species timber from Lake Pieman, in a venture known as Hydrowood. Hydrowood has begun underwater logging operations at Lake Pieman/Reece Dam and this activity will continue for approximately two years. An exclusion zone around the operation is defined with yellow buoys. Instructions stating the marine channel to use and other restrictions will be posted on signs.

    New pontoons are offering boating enthusiasts and anglers safer and more secure access to some of Tasmania’s favourite recreational and angling lakes. The three new pontoons at Jonah Bay (Arthurs Lake) and Brandum Bay (Great Lake) in Tasmania’s central highlands and at Lake Rosebery (Tullah) in Tasmania’s west are part of joint efforts by Hydro Tasmania and Marine and Safety Tasmania (MAST) to improve the safety and functionality of boating infrastructure at popular inland lakes.

Hydro Tasmania is Australia’s largest producer of renewable energy, with assets worth more than $5 billion and 30 hydropower stations in operation around the state. Also this weekend, Musselroe Wind Farm will host an open day, as part of Australian Wind Farm Open Day.
