If you are looking for the perfect location to have your next Tassie adventure, you might like to consider one of our dog-friendly locations we have located around Tasmania! You can use our site finder to find one near you, or check out some of our favourites below:
With three campgrounds to choose from, Bradys Lake is the perfect weekend location for fishing enthusiasts! Trolling, spin fishing and boat fishing are big here, as the waters are teeming with brown and rainbow trout. The lake lies at the head of the Bradys Chain of Lakes, with canals flowing into Lake Binney and Tungatinah Lagoon. All three campgrounds welcome man’s best friend to join in on the fun.
Located 5km from Tullah, Lake Mackintosh is a great sight-seeing location out across Mackintosh Dam and Mackintosh Power Station. On a peaceful day the lake becomes a mirror, reflecting the surrounding hills and rainforest. Like most ‘hydro lakes’, Lake Mackintosh is stocked with brown and rainbow trout, and the perfect place to get out on the water to enjoy the serenity.
If you’re looking for a spot to enjoy some paddling, look no further than Lake Binney! Just a stone’s throw away from Bradys, Binney has two campgrounds to choose from. A beautiful place to explore the water by day and enjoy a toasty campfire in the evening. The campsites are pooch-friendly so you can enjoy a night under the stars with your favourite friend.
Searching for the perfect spot to relax? Lake Gairdner is a basic but peaceful campsite, suitable for self-sufficient campers (and their pooches!). Of course, a good population of brown trout is available at the lake. Or instead, relax on the green shores of the lake, enjoying Tasmania’s unique wilderness. The campground is located just over half an hour's drive from the iconic Cradle Mountain, in the heart of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.
Another popular fishing destination is Penstock Lagoon. And you don’t need to be an angler to enjoy this beautiful location – as there is also a day-use area, campgrounds, and boating opportunities. Did we mention that there are also dog-friendly areas at Penstock Lagoon as well…
Most importantly, have a wonderful time immersing yourself in nature, and please help us look after these special places by leaving no trace of your visit.
