Martin Doyle

My first role with Hydro Tasmania was as an apprentice mechanical fitter and turner, working on and around the power stations.

I was very keen to progress, so from being part of the maintenance team, I moved into more project management and maintenance planning, and then into management roles. Now I'm a production manager for the Gordon and Lower Derwent area.

There's plenty of variation in the work we do every day. We could be assisting with a major station outage one day, and the next we could be tinkering in the workshop.

There's a nice balance of different skills across the people I work with, and they're all willing to teach you and share their experiences.
