As a national leader in renewable energy, Hydro Tasmania plays a key role in emerging renewable energy market opportunities both in Australia and overseas.
This includes participating in policy development, industry associations, and the legislative processes in determining market incentives through funding and commercialisation initiatives for new technologies and markets.
There are three areas of focus:
- Policy influence - focuses on maintaining and growing networks, policy awareness and analysis, input to industry associations, raising business profile, and alignment with key internal Hydro Tasmania divisions.
- Optimising market opportunities - focuses on voluntary and mandatory environmental credit markets, product development, emissions trading, Green Power, state-based renewable energy market schemes and international trading opportunities.
- Facilitating technology commercialisation - focuses on grant investigation and support, building partnerships and alliances, influencing external program design and funding priorities, and development of a partnership to advance clean energy technology innovation.
