Hydro Tasmania is interested in fostering the development and application of different renewable energy technologies, including wind power. Prior to 2005 Hydro Tasmania was the owner, operator and developer of a number of wind farms throughout Australia. In 2005 Hydro Tasmania entered a joint venture with CLP Power Asia Limited to create the wind energy business Roaring 40s, which now continues this role.
Hydro Tasmania remains responsible for the wind farm on King Island, Huxley Hill Wind Farm.
