Water Management Review Process

The WMR has four stages.

Stage 1: Background Information
An Environmental Review document is produced for the catchment which contains information on Hydro Tasmania's infrastructure and operating patterns in the catchment, and a summary of any known information on environmental concerns relating to those operations.

Stage 2: Community Consultation
Consultation occurs in order for us to understand what our stakeholders are concerned about. Directly affected landowners, interest groups and government bodies are identified and consulted through activities such as written surveys, phone calls, personal visits and targeted meetings. A Community Consultation document is published summarising consultation results.

Stage 3: Technical Studies
Technical Studies investigate issues raised in the community consultation stage. The studies focus on the feasibility of possible management options and actions to address the issues. The time taken will depend on the complexity. Technical reports are provided to stakeholders and published on this website.

Stage 4: Program Development
With an understanding of the community concerns and technical studies we consider options to resolve or mitigate these issues. Costs and operational implications of the options are evaluated and a management plan is proposed for implemenation.
