Cradle Coast Authority and Hydro Tasmania sign MOU
18 February 2009

Cradle Coast Authority Executive Chairman, Roger Jaensch, and Hydro Tasmania’s General Manager Communications and External Relations, Andrew Catchpole, signed the MOU this morning.

“It is anticipated the Memorandum of Understanding will build on processes already in place to share information, resources and skills,” Mr Catchpole said.

“Hydro Tasmania has established a strong relationship with The Cradle Coast Authority and this agreement is a formal recognition of the commitment to continue working together across north western Tasmania.”

Mr Catchpole said the MOU would enhance cooperation in respect to joint and supported projects.

“The memorandum strengthens Hydro Tasmania’s existing relationship with the Cradle Coast Authority and builds on our commitment to sustainable management,” he said. “It also offers additional opportunities, such as possible funding for specific programs that are of mutual benefit.

“Hydro Tasmania has responsibility for significant land and waterways across the State and we believe the partnership with Cradle Coast Authority will enhance our activities in these areas.

“Through collaboration with the Cradle Coast Authority, we expect the sharing of knowledge and skills will continue to provide opportunities for innovation and efficient management practices which we hope to see flow through to the wider community.” Mr Catchpole said.

“Collaborative projects already in progress include integrated weed management programs at Gowrie Park and the Lake Margaret redevelopment project.  Currently we are developing collaborative projects for the recreational management of Lake Barrington and the development of sustainable farm plans for Hydro Tasmania land on King Island.
