Hydro Tasmania Board Members

Dr David Crean - Chair Dr David Crean was appointed Chair of Hydro Tasmania in September 2004. Dr Crean was State Treasurer from August 1998 to his retirement from the position in February 2004. He was also Minister for Employement from July 2002 to February 2004. He was a member for Buckingham in the Legislative Council from 1992 to February 1999, and then for Elwick until May 2004. From 1989-1992 he was the member for Denison in the House of Assembly. From 1993-98 he held the Shadow Portfolios of State Development, Public Sector Management, Finance and Treasury. Dr Crean graduated from Monash University in 1976 wth a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. |

Vince Hawksworth - CEO Mr Hawksworth took up the position of Chief Executive Officer on 1 August 2006. Prior to this appointment, Mr Hawksworth was General Manager Retail with Genesis Energy (New Zealand). He is a qualified mining engineer and has an Executive Masters degree in Business Administration. Mr Hawksworth's experience encompases management in hydropower and thermal electricity generation, energy markets and coal mining. He was First Vice President of the Electricity Engineers Association of New Zealand, a director of the Gas Association of New Zealand and a member of the Electricity Commission Retail Market Advisory Group, New Zealand. |

Michael Cavell – Director Mr Cavell was appointed to the Board on 15 November 2006. He is an energy consultant based in Brisbane. He has extensive energy industry experience and has held the positions of CEO of Enertrade, Managing Director of Duke Energy International, Australia, Managing Director of PG&E Corporation and worked in oil, gas and transport industries and energy regulation in USA. He has qualifications in law, physics and engineering. |

Saul Eslake - Director Mr Eslake was appointed to the Hydro Tasmania Board on 19 March 2008. He is currently Chief Economist at the ANZ Bank, Chairman of ANZCover, a member of the ANZ Group Asset and Liability Committee and the Corporate and Institutional Bank’s Sustainability Committee. Other positions he holds are: Chair of the Tasmanian Arts Advisory Board, a member of the University of Tasmania Foundation Board, a Tasmanian ambassador for ‘The Song Room’, a non- profit organisation dedicated to providing music and arts programs in Australian schools and communities. He is also Chair of the Steering Committee charged with overseeing the development of the Launceston City Council 2020 project. |

Sally Farrier - Director Ms Farrier was appointed to the Board on 15 December 2004. She is a director of Farrier Swier Consulting and has extensive management consulting experience, including in the Victorian electricity and gas reform process. She has also specialised in the energy sector for consulting company Ernst Young in both New Zealand and Australia, has a Bachelor of Engineering, a Masters in Business Administration, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment Analysis. Ms Farrier is a member of the Securities Institute and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. |

Janine Healy - Director Ms Healey, was appointed to the Board on 9 September 2002. Currently a Chartered Accountant with Ruddicks (Launceston, Tasmania), Ms Healey has wide-ranging commercial experience, particularly in the areas of commercial taxation advice, business structures, and planning and cash flow management. Ms Healey has a strong history of community and commercial involvement in Tasmania which includes serving as a member of the University of Tasmania Council Audit and Finance Committee (including a term as Chair), Treasurer of the Launceston Chamber of Commerce, Director of the Inveresk Railyard Development Authority (including Chair of the Audit Committee), Director of the Female Factory Historic Site Ltd in Hobart and Director and Chair of the Audit Committee of the Port of Launceston Pty Ltd. She was appointed as a Board member of the Tasmanian Electronic Commerce Centre Pty Ltd (a joint venture between the Government of Tasmania and the University of Tasmania) during December 2006. Her professional memberships include Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia, spending two years as Chairman of the Tasmanian Division, and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. |

Stan Kalinko - Director Mr Kalinko was appointed to the Board on 25 June 2007. Mr Kalinko has practised law for more than 30 years, specialising in corporate and commercial law, including initial public offerings (IPOs), takeovers, and mergers and acquisitions and has broad experience over a number of industries. He commenced his career in South Africa and for the past 16 years has been a partner of the international law firm Deacons. Mr Kalinko is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and also serves on the boards of FSA Group Limited, Indigenous Community Volunteers, and the Central Synagogue. Previously he has served on Deacons’ Sydney board for eight years and three years on its national board, and was chairman of the Sydney office for three years. He has a B.Com, LLB, a Higher Diploma in Tax and is an accredited mediator |
