Closure of the Hands On Centre
The Hands On Centre is moving in a new direction and has closed its doors to school visits as of June 2010. This decision reflects a change in our business priorities and a new role for the Centre in supporting Hydro Tasmania's 800 plus employees as the business undergoes some major changes in strategic direction.
Centre staff have thoroughly enjoyed sharing the renewable energy story over the past 10 years with many thousands of students and their teachers. Hydro Tasmania would like to take this opportunity to thank David Jamrozik, Paul Turvey and Merren Wilkinson for their commitment and enthusiasm in promoting our business. Their professionalism and dedication have been recognised not only by those schools who have visited the Centre but the education sector in general.
Centre staff will now be focusing on using their skills to improve the way the business communicates with staff and better promotes our strategy, programs and initiatives.
While general school visits will stop, it is our intention to maintain some connection with the education community, possibly through targeted school visits or some form of outreach program using some of the models and displays currently located at the Centre. These options have yet to be developed but will be considered as the business moves in a new strategic direction.
Thank you for your support of the Hands On Centre.
