Happenings at Hands On
A camp focused on the development of skills for our future surf lifesavers was launched recently together with a funding boost of $10,000.
The 2007 Hydro Tasmania Surf Skills Camp is a joint initiative of Surf Life Saving Tasmania and Hydro Tasmania which will see around 200 young surf lifesavers receive training to increase their proficiency in the water.
The surf skills training program has been sponsored by Hydro Tasmania since 2005 and its support has been extended until 2007 and includes additional funding for the Junior Lifesaver of the Year awards.

Hydro Tasmania Sponsorship Coordinator, Jane Crosswell, said the support for surf life saving was a very good match for Hydro Tasmania’s values.
“One of our core values is our commitment to ensuring a sustainable future and we can achieve this through the development of our young people and protecting the Tasmanian community through funding an effective water safety strategy,” Mrs Crosswell said.
“Our business relies very much on water as a sustainable energy source and water safety is an important focus for our people and the many people that use our waterways for recreation and other uses.”
