Basslink studies
Before the Basslink project was approved, monitoring over two years (five years for Gordon) established a baseline for measuring future environmental impacts that might result from changes in power system operations due to Basslink. This monitoring also added a major appendix to the Basslink Integrated Impact Assessment Statement (IIAS) report. The appendix covers the social and environmental effect of power system operations.

The environmental impact of Basslink is monitored downstream of the Gordon and John Butters power stations on the west coast and the Poatina power station in central Tasmania. Find the annual Gordon monitoring reports and three-year review reports below.

Basslink review report 2006-2009

It is a condition of Hydro Tasmania’s water licence that we monitor environmental conditions for six years post Basslink. We must provide two three-year reviews, the first of which is published. The second report will be published in 2012. |
