Lake Pedder Chalet

Do you want to experience Tasmania's wildside?

If you are visiting the rugged south-west of Tasmania the Lake Pedder Chalet is a must visit. This picturesque accommodation on the banks of Lake Pedder is your gateway to the south-west.

At the Chalet there is information about what life was like living in a hydro village, plus information on the famous Gordon Dam. The Gordon Dam wall has a walkway which is open to the public, and if you are interested in abseiling you can arrange to do the world's highest commercial abseil through Aardvark Adventures >

Please note: Hydro Tasmania would like to advise that the Lake Pedder Chalet at Strathgordon has re-opened to the public following a short
closure.

The closure was necessary to allow management of the Chalet to be transferred to a new operator after the existing lease expired. Hydro Tasmania has appointed Remote CMS as the new operator of the Chalet.

Remote CMS is experienced in managing similar facilities in remote locations and will operate the Chalet as tourism accommodation in what is recognised as the gateway to the South-West Wilderness.
