Contractor occupational health and safety
This page is for use by Hydro Tasmania staff and contractors to obtain all the information they will need when working on Hydro Tasmania sites. Please take the time to read the disclaimer below.

Our work sites are varied and include office buildings through to power stations, dams, canals and green-field construction sites all with very different risks. As such, the requirement for training increases for those working in high risk hazardous areas. Hydro Tasmania has built on the good work of Tasmanian Power System Safety Rules system(P.S.S.R) to form a new Permit To Work system (PTW). Our PTW system provides better protection when working on both mechanical and civil assets, as well as electrical assets which are the primary focus in the PSSR system. This does mean that the specific PTW training is required to work on Hydro Tasmania sites.
Level 2 inductions – REFRESHER REQUIREMENTS
All contractors are individually responsible for ensuring that their training and induction are current before they arrive to work on a Hydro Tasmania site. This includes level 2 induction.
To arrange a level 2 induction, contact your Hydro Tasmania representative. You can download the HSE induction handbook from this page (under the “Induction” tab).
Disclaimer
The information provided in this web page, including the documents listed are not a definitive guide to Hydro Tasmania's Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management requirements or the HSE Management System. The most recent version of HSE documentation should always be consulted for accurate information on HSE management requirements. Contractors should be aware of the HSE management requirements outlined in their contract with Hydro Tasmania and always discuss the HSE management requirements with the Hydro Tasmania Contract Manager before arriving on site or commencing any work for Hydro Tasmania.
