Hydro Tasmania is a values-based organisation with a workforce of about 820 people.
The value of our total power system is realised through trading electricity and energy products as a participant in the National Electricity Market. Our total generating capacity is 2615 MW and our assets are worth about $3.4 billion.
We have a proud 100-year history in power engineering and dam construction that gave us our hydro-electric scheme, the basis of our renewable energy business and expertise. We build on this with new renewable energy generation projects in wind farms and mini-hydro and enhance our assets with a program of upgrades and maintenance, designed to sustain our business for future generations.
In addition we own the King Island Huxley Hill Wind Farm and two diesel power stations on King and Flinders Islands in Bass Strait.
We hold further wind farm interests in Tasmania, South Australia and Asia as joint owner of Roaring 40s Pty Ltd with CLP Power Asia Limited.
Hydro Tasmania is a Government Business Enterprise, owned by the State of Tasmania.
